From May 1, 2026, China will officially implement comprehensive zero-tariff treatment for all 53 African countries with which it has diplomatic relations. This is China's largest unilateral market opening initiative to date, highly praised by African governments and media, and hailed as a "new milestone in China-Africa cooperation". Against the backdrop of global protectionism, China is committed to promoting trade prosperity with Africa, promoting industrial investment, and deepening friendship and ties between the two peoples through a zero-tariff policy. China said that this move aims to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results and promote the construction of a fairer and more inclusive global trading system. At a time when the international trade order is turbulent, China has strengthened its strategic partnership with Africa with practical actions, demonstrated its responsibility as a responsible major country, and won widespread attention and positive evaluation from the international community.
